The Saint Benedict Medal blessing
in a simple format for printing out |
For those of us who live in non-English speaking countries with priests who may not be able to read English very well, we need to find a copy of the blessing laid out in a format which removes any unnecessary obstacles to comprehension. So I went with the first option and laid out the rite in an easy-to-comprehend, easy-to-print format using the text which can be found on several web sites. I'm also sharing it here for those who may find it useful. Just click on the image to the right to download the PDF and print it out. If you have Adobe Illustrator, you can even edit the PDF and further customize it. An older, longer form of the blessing also exists. Some prefer the older rite because it contains two exorcisms. The old rite was in Latin, but various English translations can be found in books and on the web, some in older English (thees and thous, etc), and some in more contemporary English.
The only changes I made to the text was to add a missing cross in the first exorcism prayer as it appears in the same blessing on other web sites and books, and to update the phrase, may he also be with you to the currently used and with your spirit which matches the Latin text better. I also typed out the portion of the "Our Father" which was omitted; most non-English-speaking priests don't have it memorized and will need to actually see it. Just click on the image above to see the PDF, which you can download and print out. |
