I discovered your blog for some time. Your works are very beautiful and great source of inspiration. I'd like to ask you a question about the tools that you use. For my draw l use disposable markers and I would like to start using a fountain pen. Unfortunately I can not find an ink completly waterproof. I tried the permanent black of montblanc but in the end in contact with the water melts. what kind of ink do you use for your fountain pen if you have to use watercolours?
thank you very much and I hope tthat you have time to answer me.

Admin reply: Hello Valerio,
Two waterproof inks for fountain pen I know of are Platinum Carbon ink (which comes both in a bottle and Platinum cartridges) and Noodler's Black ink.

Comments: Thanks for shared information on the A10/A20 water brushes and I like the tip on J-B epoxy . Great site on field sketching .
Admin reply: I'm glad you like the brush pens -- and the tips. I once snapped one of them in half when I attempted to remove the cap with one hand. Now I always use both hands!

Admin reply: There is no newsletter from my web site, but if you are asking about membership in the Sketching Forum, you simply need to e-mail me your preferred user name and password (but don't post them in this guestbook for the world to see!).

I enjoy your artwork, and I read with great joy your account of becoming a Catholic. May God continue to bless you.

Admin reply: Thank you for your kind message, Pat! I'm happy to hear from another Protestant convert to the Catholic Church, and am impressed that you had the perseverance to read my long story!
May God bless you, too!

Comments: Thanks for the very informative page about chanting the Psalter.
A note about Byzantine chant: properly done, it is not improvised. Byzantine chant actually has a great many rules about how texts are to be chanted, although they are complex, and in practice in most Byzantine churches in the west the chant is indeed improvised.
Byzantine chant does have a notation system though, and it's actually relatively easy to learn once you understand the Byzantine modal system. You can find a wealth of information and examples in both Western and Byzantine notation at the St. Anthony's Monastery website "The Divine Music Project".
Admin reply: Thanks for the correction. May I add your comments to the article?

I`m interested with japanese bible for ereader. Then, I saw your website. I have a sony prs-t2 and I like to put japanese bible in it. Where can I get it?
Thanks in advance.
Admin reply: I don't know anything about Sony devices but I'm sure a web search will turn up something. If your favorite version is the 新共同訳 then try this web site: http://www.bible.or.jp/main.html

Comments: I enjoyed your work and really appreciate the suggestions you made for art supplies. I was curious if you have ever had a dry spell or a block from drawing and sketching? I grew up drawing everything and as I have become an adult it has started slipping away from me. I still have the urge to draw and I am frustrated with this situation. My motivation is now becoming a problem and I have heard of real artists having this issue. I was wondering if you had any advice besides "Keep drawing"? Thank you for reading this..
E.H. Rhodes Jr.
Admin reply: I see art motivation as a pendulum which keeps going back and forth. About a year ago I was hardly sketching at all because other activities demanded more attention but I knew the pendulum would swing back, and it has. It always does. Now once again sketching is a major activity in my life. So if you don't feel like sketching, then don't force yourself and don't feel guilty -- and don't throw away your art stuff. The pendulum will swing back eventually!
